Good engineer, quiet phone.
Marrowby Heating, 12th October 2026. A sample of our £295 review, written for a made-up firm. Yours is about your own site, or your Facebook page and Google listing if you have no site yet, sent as a private link like this one. The numbers here are what the firm told us; a real review uses only the numbers you choose to send.
The short version
People who are recommended to you look you up and can't easily ask you for anything. On a phone your number can't be tapped, there's no way to ask for a quote, and your annual service reminders live in your head. Do the two quick fixes this week, then the reminders: that's work you already have.
- What we looked at
- What we found
- On a phone
- Fix now. Your number is part of a picture, so it can't be tapped
- Asking for a quote
- Fix now. No form, and the email address on the site goes to an old account you no longer check
- Annual services
- Fix now. Reminders sent from memory, when you remember
- Search
- Fix soon. Found for Marrowby Heating, not for boiler service near Marrowby
- Your finished work
- Fix soon. No photos of jobs on the site, and your reviews are on Facebook only
- Domain and accounts
- Fine. The domain is in your name and renews each May
Service reminders you already have
Your customer list shows 212 boilers serviced in the last two years. 61 of those customers haven't booked again within 13 months. Some will have moved or gone elsewhere, and nobody can say how many simply forgot.
If those 61 had been reminded and half of them had booked, at your own price of £85 a service that would have been 30 services, £2,550 of work from customers you already had. That's an "if", worked on your numbers, not a promise.
What we'd do
Send each customer an email reminder a month before their service is due, with a link to ask for a date. It goes out on its own once the date is in.
Calls you miss on a job
You told us you miss about six calls a week while you're working, and ring back when you can. We can't know how many were work.
If one missed call a fortnight was a job you'd have won, that's 26 jobs a year. At your average job of £400, keeping about half after parts, each one is £200, so 26 would be £5,200 kept. Again an "if": change the one-a-fortnight to whatever you think is fair.
What we'd do
Put a quote form on the site and a tap-to-call number at the top of every page, so the people who can wait leave the job, the postcode and a photo instead of ringing off.
Search
Search for Marrowby Heating and you come first. Search for boiler service near Marrowby and you're on page two, behind two national firms. Your Google Business Profile has no opening hours and no photos.
What we'd do
Give the site a page for each thing you do, fill in your Business Profile with your hours and a few photos of finished jobs, and ask happy customers to review you there as well as on Facebook.
Your finished work
The site has no photos of jobs. Customers checking a trade before letting them in look for recent examples of similar work, and Citizens Advice tells them to ask for them.
What we'd do
Take a photo at the end of each job on your phone. We choose the best, crop them and add a line saying what the job was.
What we'd do, in order
- 1You, this week: change the email address on the old site to one you check.
- 2You, this month: add your hours and three job photos to your Business Profile.
- 3Us: a new site with tap-to-call at the top of every page and a quote form, and the admin behind it sending your service reminders.
Which build fits
The site and its admin, £2,945, or the site alone for £1,950 if you'd rather keep your reminders by hand for now. Steps 1 and 2 are worth doing whether you go ahead or not.
If you go ahead
The fee comes off the build.
The whole fee for this review comes off the price of any build you sign up to, whenever you go ahead.
Want one for your own site? A review is £295: a written report like this about your own site, and a call to go through it. Book a call and tell us the address, or run the free check first.
